Jordan Travel Guide
Jordan is one of the safest and most hospitable countries in the Middle East. Petra — an entire city carved from rose-red rock — is a genuine wonder of the world. Wadi Rum is a Mars-like desert where you sleep under the stars. And the Dead Sea is an experience available nowhere else on earth.
Best Time to Visit
Spring (March–May)
The best season. Perfect weather, wildflowers. Petra and Wadi Rum at their most beautiful.
Autumn (September–November)
Second-best window. Cooler than summer, less crowded than spring.
Winter (December–February)
Quieter Petra. Possible snow. Amman gets cold but the Dead Sea remains mild.
Top Destinations
Petra
The Nabataean city carved entirely from rock. The Treasury appears suddenly at the end of the Siq (narrow gorge) — a moment you'll never forget. Stay at least two days to do it justice.
Wadi Rum
Red desert with vast rock formations used as a filming location for Mars movies. Spend a night in a Bedouin camp under the Milky Way.
Dead Sea
The lowest point on earth. You float effortlessly without swimming. Mud therapy and spa resorts along the shore.
Amman
A modern capital with the ancient Amman Citadel, the grand mosque and Souk Jara market where history and present collide.
Jerash
One of the best-preserved Roman cities outside Italy. Marble colonnades, cardo maximus and an amphitheatre still used for events.
