Visiting the website

The website runs on a server at DigitalOcean and is delivered through Cloudflare. When you open a page, the data that is technically needed to deliver it is processed: your IP address, the time, the page requested and details of your browser.

Measuring how the site is used

The site uses Google Analytics 4 (Google), Hotjar and Microsoft Clarity to understand which pages are read and where visitors get stuck. These tools record page views, clicks and scrolling; Hotjar and Clarity can also replay a visit as a recording of the page. They use cookies or similar identifiers in your browser, and the data is processed by these providers, which can include servers outside the EU.

You can stop this by blocking cookies and tracking scripts in your browser, or with a content blocker.

Partner links

Guides and the travel gear page link to partners: Amazon, Expedia, GetYourGuide and Airalo. If you book or buy after following such a link, the site may earn a commission. The partner can tell that you came from this site and may set its own cookies; its own privacy policy applies from there on.

The site records that a partner link was clicked, on which page and in which block, but not who clicked it.

Some guides show tours in a GetYourGuide widget. It is loaded from GetYourGuide’s servers, so your IP address reaches GetYourGuide when such a guide is opened.

The contact form

When you send the form, your name, email address, the title and your message are stored in a database at Supabase and sent to Mahsa by email through Resend. They are used only to answer your request and are deleted when they are no longer needed for it.

Instagram statistics

Mahsa reads the statistics of her own Instagram account (@mahsapolo) through Meta’s interfaces: reach, impressions and interactions of her posts and stories. No data about visitors or followers of this website is collected this way.

Your rights

You can ask what data about you is stored, have it corrected or deleted, have its processing restricted, object to its processing, and receive it in a portable format. You can also complain to a data protection authority.
